Description of actual size is underrated. Compact is the future description. 5 people found this helpful.

I've tested a few of their outdoors products and have found them to be good but not quite exceptional, at fair to excellent prices. This night vision device is no different; however, it appears to be a catalog item that they have ordered in bulk and customized with their name, including in the firmware. If true, not a problem for me.

The unit is lightweight but well-constructed. Build quality shows in the listing's pictures: it's pretty good.

Nothing creaks or has weird gaps or loose parts. The strap is especially nice: Instead of having to do macramé to get the strap installed, it just has simple and elegant hooks on each end. Also nice, the unit comes with a Hike Crew branded 32GB Micro SD card for saving your videos and pictures. For the files sizes this thing generates, 32GB is very roomy. And while we're on the subject of nice, the semi rigid carrying case is nicer than it needed to be, and is the kind of extra effort Hike Crew puts into their offerings.

As other reviews have mentioned, these are not binoculars. It is a monocular with a digital screen and a bright infra-red light. One of the two "tubes" on one side is an objective lens, the other is actually the infrared illuminator.

The viewing screen on the other side is bright and comfortable to view, but the resolution is poor, meaning everything looks grainy, even in daylight. This is one of the principal reasons I call this device a toy.

No image or video you get from this will have any kind of quality to it at all. The listing says "stunning pictures, " but they are stunning only for their poor quality. The live viewscreen is the same: grainy, with very little dynamic range. To be fair, this kind of image quality is expected at this price point, and is not a deal-breaker. This device does allow you to see things at night, and you can see them well enough to tell what they are, recognize animals, etc. Without disturbing the scene with a bright light. It's really a lot of fun to use, but nothing you record with these is going into National Geographic. Or even the local Pennysaver. I should also mention that there is no magnification here, like you would see with analog binoculars. There is a digital cropping feature that they call a zoom, but it spreads out already too few pixels even farther, resulting in a mess. One of the biggest drawbacks of this device, for me, it the requirement to use six AA alkaline batteries. You can possibly use rechargeable, but it's not recommended by the maker because they don't provide the correct voltage. That means you'll be running through a lot of batteries if you play with this a lot. In the year 2021, why are we still making electronic devices that require alkaline, disposable batteries?

In practice, my use for this is while camping, which means a set of batteries will last while because I don't camp as often as I'd like. Bottom line for me: this is a fun toy, reasonably priced. It might satiate your appetite for this kind of device, or it might prompt you to get something more advanced.

But either way, I don't think you'll be disappointed if you understand it's well priced but not some kind of over the top bargain. Reviewed in the United States on January 11, 2022. You can see in the dark. One person found this helpful. Reviewed in the United States on August 18, 2021.

These "binoculars" are mildly interesting as long as you keep your expectations low... Yes it does help you to see and "photograph" in the dark. But it is not remotely Clear.

But the photos are mediocre and grainy. I was able to film my cat in very low night light.

I could see the cat. But the quality of the video is not something I would consider serious video. But that is a generous term. The two things that look like the eyepieces, are not. One seems to be simply for decoration to give the illusion they are binoculars.

The other eyepiece is the lens through which the image is received. You view the images on the rectangular LCD screen on the other end of the "binoculars". While the images at normal viewing are recognizable, if you magnify to 4X the images quickly break down. There is no image stabilization, so when you magnify, things get very shaky.

While you can tell I was not enthralled by these "binoculars, " they are still interesting. You can see things in the dark.... That part is kind of cool. So think of these, not as binoculars, but rather a photo/video camera that can see in the dark. Like I said, it is a novelty item rather than a serious instrument.

They are kind enough to supply a very nice case, strap and a microSD card. There are six button on top to operate it.

It is a bit fiddly, but not too hard to figure out. The one awkward thing is that the button to zoom in, also is used to increase the Infrared sensitivity. So it is hard to figure out what it is going to do when you press it...

A bit clumsy But like I said this is not a serious instrument. All orders will be packed safe and sound with tracking to your location.
